ACS: NY: A New Era of American Industrial Policy

Zoom

In recent years, the Biden administration and Congress have contended with a variety of economic shocks stemming from COVID-19, supply chain disruptions, inflation, and mounting climate crises. To address them, policymakers have increasingly turned toward industrial policy, both utilizing old authorities like the Defense Production Act and creating new ones. This panel will explore how industrial policy works, what economic tools the administration has at its disposal, and provide an update on recently-enacted legislation (including the CHIPS and Science Act) and major pending economic legislation (the Inflation Reduction Act).

Featuring:

Lenore Palladino, Assistant Professor, University of Massachusetts Amherst School of Public Policy & Department of Economics
