Craig Mastantuono

Craig Mastantuono defends people accused of crime in State and Federal courts. He began his career at the Wisconsin State Public Defender before entering private practice.

Mastantuono is a deeply committed advocate for his clients, for the rights of those accused of crime, and for the ability of those convicted of crime to have an opportunity at redemption and not be defined by their worst actions. He has litigated thousands of cases, serving as lead counsel in more than 50 jury trials. He has also argued and won cases before the Wisconsin Supreme Court and the U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals. His practice focuses on felony and white-collar defense and investigations, mental health criminal case work, Fourth Amendment litigation and selected post-conviction work.

The proud son and grandson of immigrants from Mexico and Italy, he is a past-President of the Wisconsin Hispanic Lawyer’s Association (WHLA) and past chair of the WHLA scholarship committee. He is a member of The American Law Institute and an International Academy of Trial Lawyers Fellow, and a board member of the Milwaukee Jazz Institute.

Mastantuono serves on Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers’ Judicial Selection Advisory committee, assisting the Governor in appointing state court judges and improving the competency and diversity of the Wisconsin bench. He earned his law degree at DePaul University College of Law and a BBA cum laude at Loyola University of Chicago. He is an adjunct faculty member at Marquette University Law School where he teaches Criminal Practice.
