Welcome to 1L! For those who are lost in the sea of readings and conflicting advice, ACS is happy to provide some guidance in How To 1L. This event is the first in a series which will occur periodically throughout your first year, and will focus on how to write case briefs, handle your readings, and prepare for cold-calls. Stop by on Wednesday the 11th to grab some pizza and listen to a variety of different approaches that Penn ACS board members followed. After an initial info-session with slides and general guidance, ACS members with different strategies (and professor-specific advice) will provide a Q+A session.

HLS's ACS, Equal Democracy Project, and Journal of Law and Technology will host Professor Nate Persily of Stanford Law School. Professor Persily will discuss the upcoming election, voting laws, and the roles of social media and AI. Professor Stephanopoulos of Harvard Law School will cohost the event.

Living Constitutionalism event with Professor Sarah Shalf.

Texas Law will be hosting a Student Organization Fair. ACS is attending to recruit 1Ls and share details about ACS. There will be a Board tabling and candy.

The Supreme Court will decide whether Tennessee’s law restricting gender-affirming care for minors violates the Constitution, amid a broader push from states that have passed similar laws and others that target transgender individuals. The ACLU of Tennessee is one of the parties that sued the state of Tennessee. ACLU Attorney Lucas Cameron-Vaughn worked on this case and is going to talk about the legal landscape regarding the upcoming SCOTUS case, United States v. Skrmetti.
