Movie Screening and Director Q+A of Sansón and Me
Former court interpreter turned film director, Rodrigo Reyes is inspired to make a documentary about Sansón, an immigrant serving life for first-degree murder, but authorities won’t allow the incarcerated young man to be filmed. In light of this, Sansón’s story is shared through dramatic reenactments of his letters, using members of his own family as actors. It is a rare, insightful look into the workings of our crimmigration system and the relationship between a defendant and his interpreter. Sansón and Me – About the Film
Please join Stanford Latinx Law Students Association, Stanford Journal of Civil Rights & Civil Liberties, and the American Constitution Society at Room 290 for a screening of the film followed by a Q+A with Rodrigo Reyes (film director), Sansón (via telephone), and Kevin Rooney (his appellate attorney). Dinner will be provided to those who RSVP 48 hours before the start of the event.
Co-sponsors: Stanford Journal of Civil Rights & Civil Liberties (SJCRCL); Stanford Latinx Law Students Association (SLLSA)
