The ACS Chapter at the University of Iowa College of Law will be hosting Mary Beth Tinker as part of our Constitution Day celebration on September 17. Mary Beth Tinker was one of the plaintiffs in the 1969 Supreme Court decision, Tinker v. Des Moines Independent Community School District, that extended free speech rights for students. We will provide lunch to attendees.

Professor Eric Berger, Professor Kyle Langvardt, and Professor Paul Weitzel will engage in a discussion about recent SCOTUS decisions and their impact on American law, followed by an opportunity for audience questions.

Come celebrate Constitution Day with the American Constitution Society for Law and Policy (ACS) at Rutgers Law School–Newark! We will be serving ice cream and refreshments alongside voter registration information.

Our American Constitution Society chapter is hosting a Constitution Day panel event titled “Viewing the Constitution as a Living Document” on Tuesday, September 17th, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm in room 101. The panel will explore how the Constitution can reflect modern norms and values in contemporary society. The event will feature distinguished speakers Wyatt Rolla, Senior Transgender Rights Attorney at the ACLU of Virginia; Maisie Osteen from the Legal Aid Justice Center; and Professor Corinna Lain, a constitutional law scholar from Richmond Law. The discussion will be moderated by Professor Danielle Wingfield, whose expertise spans constitutional law, legal history, and family law. Each speaker brings unique perspectives and extensive experience to the panel: Wyatt Rolla specializes in transgender rights and civil rights, Maisie Osteen focuses on racial justice and criminal defense, and Professor Lain's scholarship examines the influence of extralegal norms on Supreme Court decision-making. This event aims to engage the law school community in a meaningful dialogue on constitutional interpretation in modern times.

To celebrate Constitution Day, Mitchell Hamline ACS will be tabling on-campus. We will be providing pocket Constitutions, Crumbl Cookies, ACS Stickers, and resources to sign up to be a poll worker and poll protector. We will also be recruiting more members to join Mitchell Hamline's chapter of ACS!
