The American Constitution Society (ACS) is the nation's foremost progressive legal organization with a diverse nationwide network that includes nearly 200 student and lawyer chapters, and progressive lawyers, students, judges, scholars, elected officials, and advocates. Join Wayne Law's student chapter for this introduction to the organization, its history, mission, and programs, both nationally and at the university.

Corporatocracy How to Protect Democracy from Dark Money and Corrupt Politicians

Professor Ciara Torres-Spelliscy (Professor of Law at Stetson University) will discuss her new book, Corporatocracy, which looks at the January 6th, 2021, insurrection through the lens of money in politics. It examines past and present campaign finance scandals, including the rise of autocracies, which illustrate the risk of corporate political spending and dark money. It encourages average Americans to use their vote and pocketbooks to incentivize pro-democracy behavior by politicians and corporations.

General Body Meeting for ACS at Howard Law School

The is the first general body meeting hosted for the student chapter of ACS at Howard Law School for Fall 2024. The event will consist of a speaker from ACS to inform students on what ACS is and all of the membership opportunities that ACS has to offer. Also, the meeting will discuss programming.
