Prop. 40 and the Future of Wealth Taxes

Stanford Law School Room 190, Stanford, CA

Could California enact the nation’s first wealth tax this November?

Join Stanford Law School's American Constitution Society (ACS), Law and Political Economy group (LPE), and Tax Law Association (STLA) for a dinner conversation on California’s proposed wealth tax and the future of wealth taxation in the United States.

Featuring economist Gabriel Zucman, an acclaimed economist on wealth inequality, and Brian Galle, a co-author of Prop. 40 and leading tax law scholar, the conversation will examine the economic and legal arguments surrounding wealth taxation, the design and implementation challenges raised by California’s proposal, and Proposition 40’s broader implications for tax policy in the United States.

Open to the public. Dinner will be served to those who RSVP by September 29.
