Introduction to Modern Monetary Theory with Dr. Stephanie Kelton

Zoom

Please join the Penn Law ACS Student Chapter, LSDS, and NLG on Thursday, Feb. 11th at 12:00 PM EST for Intro to Modern Monetary Theory (MMT), with MMT's leading public intellectual, economist Dr. Stephanie Kelton. MMT criticizes widely-held assumptions about debt, deficits, and government budgets that undercut life-sustaining government policies and programs.

Dr. Kelton served as chief economist on the U.S. Senate Budget Committee (Democratic staff) in 2015 and as a senior economic adviser to Bernie Sanders’ 2016 and 2020 presidential campaigns. POLITICO called her one of the 50 Most Influential Thinkers in 2016, Bloomberg listed her as one of the 50 people who defined 2019, Barron’s named her one of the 100 most influential women in finance in 2020, and Prospect Magazine listed her among the world’s top 50 thinkers in 2020. This is the exciting first installment of a series of events being planned by student groups at the law schools of Yale, Columbia, Georgetown, Berkeley, and Penn.
