United States v. Skrmetti and the Tennessee Trans Legal Landscape: A Discussion with ACLU Attorney Lucas Cameron-Vaughn

The ACLU of Tennessee is one of the parties that sued the state of Tennessee. ACLU Attorney Lucas Cameron-Vaughn worked on this case and is going to talk about the legal landscape regarding the upcoming SCOTUS case, United States v. Skrmetti.

How to 1L Series: Briefing and Reading Basics

Welcome to 1L! For those who are lost in the sea of readings and conflicting advice, ACS is happy to provide some guidance in How To 1L. This event is the first in a series which will occur periodically throughout your first year, and will focus on how to write case briefs, handle your readings, and prepare for cold-calls. Stop by on Wednesday the 11th to grab some pizza and listen to a variety of different approaches that Penn ACS board members followed. After an initial info-session with slides and general guidance, ACS members with different strategies (and professor-specific advice) will provide a Q+A session.

Supreme Court Recap

Join ACS as Prof. Segall of Georgia State University to speak on the 2023-24 Supreme Court term which was full of important cases involving abortion, guns, presidential immunity, and presidential disqualification. The overwhelming factor in all these cases was not text, history, or precedent, but concerns about the 2024 election. This focus on partisan politics is not how the Court should operate.
