UNL: Constitution Day Debate

UNL College of Law Main Auditorium, Lincoln, NE

The ACS Nebraska Chapter, along with the UNL Federalist Society, are co-sponsoring an event for Constitution Day.

We will have two University of Nebraska professors, Professors Hurwitz and Professor Marshfield, take sides in an argument and discuss the merits of both sides of the debate in an educational and moderated forum. This debate is not planned to be contentious and both professors plan to use the debate as a means of educating the larger student body.

Our tentative topic for debate pertains to the 10th Circuit's recent ruling that states cannot dictate how their elected electors vote in the elector college. This is an issue with great potential significance, especially in the event of a close (electoral college) election, raising questions about the elector college and the tensions of popular (ACS) vs federated (FedSoc) democracy.
