The Future of ESG in Texas: A Discussion

Hillcrest Classroom - SMU Dedman School of Law, Dallas, TX

SMU's Federalist Society, American Constitution Society, Corporate Law Association, and the Rowling Center for Business Law & Leadership are hosting a discussion on the future of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives under Texas corporate law.

In the 21st-century, many companies have prioritized ESG concerns when developing business strategies. These priorities, which include DEI and climate change, have generated headlines of both criticism and praise. In recent years, ESG has also generated a slew of legislation and litigation seeking to restrict its proliferation in the boardroom.

Join us for lunch and hear differing perspectives from Texas AG's Johnathan Stone, SMU Law's Dean Christine Hurt, and our moderator Professor Eric Hinton on the propriety of corporate ESG and its future in Texas.
