Speaker bio:

Suzanne Nossel has served as PEN America's CEO since 2013. She is the author of the book Dare to Speak: Defending Free Speech for All. She has worked on advancing free expression in the U.S. and abroad, including Hong Kong, China, Myanmar, and Eurasia. Suzanne previously served as COO of Human Rights Watch and Executive Director of Amnesty International USA. Prior to that, she served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for International Organizations under the Obama administration and as Deputy to the U.S. Ambassador for UN Management and Reform at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations under the Clinton administration. Suzanne's corporate career includes roles as VP of Strategy and Operations for the Wall Street Journal and the VP of U.S. Business Development for Bertelsmann. She graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College and Harvard Law School.
