Professor Josie Brown graduated from Harvard law, magna cum laude, in 1983. She specializes in public interest law, with a specific sub-specialty in the constitutional rights of women and children. She has worked in both the legal aid setting and as a litigator with Hill and Barlow in Boston, MA, and has taught as a full-time faculty member at the University of South Carolina School of Law since 2004. She teaches Constitutional Law, Women and the Law, Constitutional Issues in Public Education, and Religion and the Constitution.
As an ally organization, ACS at SC Law is co-sponsoring this event with Carolina Equality Alliance (a long-time partner of ours). Professor Brown will be addressing the upcoming case on cert to the Supreme Court, combining three composite cases ( Altitude Express Inc. v. Zarda, Bostock v. Clayton County, and R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Homes v. EEOC ), in which the Court will address whether Title 7 applies to employment discrimination on the basis of sex as pertaining to LGBTQ individuals.
