Spread the Vote

Great Hall, Gulfport, FL

Join us for lunch on Thursday, October 18th from 12pm to 1:30pm in the Great Hall at Stetson University College of Law to learn more about Amendment 4 on this November's Ballot! Gina Miles from Spread the Vote will be coming to speak.

Some background on Amendment 4: Florida is one of only 3 states in the U.S. that permanently takes away voting rights from those convicted of felonies. This practice has long been considered racially-motivated and a tool for black voter suppression. In Florida, 10 percent of the voting age population is disenfranchised due to felony convictions, but 23 percent—or almost one out of four black voters—is disenfranchised. Also, Latinos are more likely to be disenfranchised than the general population.
