Reproductive Justice in Georgia Panel

UGA Law School (Classroom F), Athens, GA

UGA Law's ACS Chapter will host a panel to discuss the fight for reproductive rights in the Southeast.

Panelists:

Staci Fox (President and CEO of Planned Parenthood SE)

Sean Young (Legal Director of ACLU GA)

Kwajelyn Jackson (Executive Director of Feminist Women’s Health Center)

The event will be an opportunity for law students to hear about the ongoing legal and cultural fight against Georgia House Bill 481 (Living Infants Fairness and Equality Act) and its counterparts in other states. The discussion will cover the legal issues and strategies involved, as well as the consequences for Georgians if the recently granted preliminary injunction were overturned and the law were to go into effect. Also, how Georgia’s specific fight fits into the national/cultural contexts, and perhaps into a larger legal strategy, as well as how advocacy groups like PPSE, FWHC, and the ACLU organize together in the face of a crisis.
