Protecting the Right to Vote

Jeffries Hall 1225, Ann Arbor, MI

This is a voting rights kickoff event co-sponsored by American Constitution Society (ACS), Michigan Voting Project, and Michigan’s ACLU chapter.

We will be hosting a panel of speakers to discuss the current landscape of the right to vote in America, efforts to restrict that right, what we can do to push back, etc. Members of the panel are Michigan Law professors Ellen Katz, Mike Steinberg, Congresswoman Debbie Dingell, and ACLU MI deputy legal director Bonsitu Kitaba.

We will have Congresswoman Dingell speak for the first 15 minutes about the importance of voting, then have a Q&A with the panel for 30 minutes, and then end the event with some information on how students can get involved locally (become poll workers, poll watchers, register people to vote, etc.) and introduce our law school section voter registration challenge.
