Political Brands: The Power of Advertising, Marketing, and Commercial Boycotts to Change Public Policy

Room 2442, Los Angeles, CA

How do political and social movements use advertising and marketing techniques to advance their agendas? What is the legal framework for the use of commercial branding techniques in political campaigns? From Civil Rights activists in the 1960's to survivors of the 2018 Parkland massacre, Ciara Torres-Spelliscy, author of Political Brands, will discuss how branding and the power of commercial boycotts can be used by citizens to change public policy. Moderated by Adam Winkler. Lunch will be served. RSVP via MyLaw or at acsla@lawnet.ucla.edu
