Policymaking During a Pandemic: A Conversation with Dr. Abdul El-Sayed

The UPenn ACS Student Chapter is pleased to welcome, public health expert, medical doctor, and 2018 Democratic primary candidate for Michigan governor, Dr. Abdul El-Sayed to speak with Professor Allison Hoffman on progressive policymaking around the pandemic. 

At this event Dr. El-Sayed and Professor Hoffman will discuss short-term solutions to the pandemic, how best to move forward on progressive healthcare policy, and how to shape an empathetic political system.

Dr. El-Sayed has deep expertise in public health, from having served as the executive director of the Detroit Health Department and Health Officer for the City of Detroit, to having been an assistant professor for epidemiology at Columbia University, to being a Rhodes Scholar.

Professor Hoffman is an expert on health law and has published literature on the Affordable Care Act, Medicaid, and long-term care during COVID-19.
