Law of the Police Conference

The Karen Williams Courtroom, Columbia, SC

Join us for the Law of the Police Conference, which will address some of most important issues in policing, including the role officers play in society and police use of force.

Spearheaded by UofSC Law Professor and former police officer Seth Stoughton, the conference will host panelists who are all experts in various aspects of law enforcement. A few notable names include Kassy Alia, founder of Serve & Connect, a non-profit that promotes positive, meaningful police-community relations; Chris Cowan, Deputy Chief of the Richland County Sheriff's Office; and Justin Bamberg, a State Representative and attorney in private practice who represented the family of Walter Scott who was killed by North Charleston Police Officer Michael Slager. Various professors of law from across the country will be contributing panelists as well.
