Keeping Momentum as an Activist Lawyer
Please join Stanford ACS & NLG on Tuesday, November 1 from 12:45-2:00pm in Room 180 for a conversation with two Bay Area attorneys who have devoted their careers to driving forward progressive activism through their legal careers. Sharon Terman is the Director of the Work and Family Program and a Senior Staff Attorney for Legal Aid at Work. Peter Calloway is a Public Defender at the San Francisco Public Defender's Office.
This panel will explore how activist attorneys can successfully manage the stress and challenges that accompany their work. The panel will also discuss why fighting for change within the legal system is an effective form of advocacy even in the face of systemic resistance to change, unfavorable substantive legal precedents, issues with access to justice, and other obstacles.
Lunch will be served to RSVP'd attendees in Crocker Garden before the start of the panel, which will begin promptly at 1:00pm in Room 180.
