Program: PEN America v. Trump: Journalists and the First Amendment

Thursday, March 28th, 2019 | 12:50 pm – 1:50 pm | Boardroom (W204)

Last October, PEN America filed a lawsuit in federal court seeking to stop President Trump from using the machinery of government to retaliate or threaten reprisals against journalists and media outlets for coverage he dislikes. Join us for a discussion with Nora Benavidez, PEN America’s Director of U.S. Free Expression Programs and a former Georgia ACS Lawyer Chapter leader, about the status of the lawsuit and to learn about emerging issues around First Amendment litigation to protect press freedom.

Pizza will be served. This event is open to all NYLS students, faculty and staff.

Co-sponsored by the NYLS chapter of the American Constitution Society.
