From the Polls to the Courtroom: Voting Rights in North Carolina

Zoom

Fair and full participation in the voting process is a core value of our American democracy. Unfortunately, many economically disadvantaged communities and communities of color have not always had a fair opportunity to cast their ballots here in North Carolina.

The ACS Wake Forest Student Chapter would like to announce an upcoming event on just this issue. ACS is excited to welcome Jeff Loperfido, Senior Counsel on Voting Rights at the Southern Coalition for Social Justice to discuss the organization's ongoing voting rights litigation and advocacy efforts here in North Carolina.

The Southern Coalition for Social Justice, based in Durham, North Carolina, partners with communities of color and economically disadvantaged communities in the South to defend and advance their political, social, and economic rights through a combination of legal advocacy, research, organizing, and communications.

Join us as we discuss the legacy of the Voting Rights Act, redistricting, voter ID laws, and other timely issues.
