Docket Debrief: the Voting Rights Act and Gerrymandering

Rubloff Building 150, Chicago, Illinois

Join ACS for a conversation with professors and practitioners about their work in voting rights. Professor Ruth Greenwood will discuss a history of the voting rights act and how Merrill v. Milligan will effect voting rights as we know it. Then we will turn to Jay Young, from Common Cause; Arthur Mitchell, from the National Redistricting Action Fund; and Chaundra Van Dyk; advocacy director of CHANGE Illinois. These advocates will speak to the practical efforts of lawyers and advocates in Illinois to push back against gerrymandering and other election practices and promote education on the local, state, and national level.
