Docket Debrief: The Fate of Affirmative Action

Rubloff Building Room 180, Chicago, Illinois

The future of affirmative action in college admissions is uncertain.

The Supreme Court recently heard oral arguments in Students for Fair Admissions Inc. v. President & Fellows of Harvard College & Students for Fair Admissions, Inc. v. University of North Carolina and seems poised to overrule affirmative action precedent established in Grutter v. Bollinger (2003)—but what does that really mean for the future of affirmative action? What are the arguments for and against affirmative action in college admissions? And are there equitable alternatives to race-conscious admissions?

Join our great group of panelists—Professor Ted Shaw, Professor Kevin Brown, and Professor Anthony Chen—as they discuss the origins and merits of affirmative action.
