Docket Debrief: Haaland v. Brackeen and the Future of Federal Indian Law

Rubloff Building 150, Chicago, Illinois

Join ACS for a conversation with three professors about their work for indigenous rights and their experience with recent and upcoming Supreme Court decisions. Professor Matthew Fletcher will discuss the Haaland briefs and discuss how to strategize/appeal to certain swing vote justices. Professor Kate Fort will speak on tribal sovereignty and native American families moving forward (with or without ICWA). Professor Noah Smith-Drelich will discuss his current litigation involving Standing Rock and how the recent cases from SCOTUS in Federal Indian Law may have implicates for policing of movements.
