Docket Debrief: Bruen & the Future of Second Amendment Litigation

Rubloff Building, Room 150 (on campus)

ACS is here with a docket debrief to teach you about New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen, a case that overturned a 100-year-old law in New York that banned the carrying of concealed handguns outside the home without a license.

What does Bruen mean for the future of gun control legislation? How are community advocates preparing to shift their litigation strategies? What are other ways that community organizers are seeking to educate and advocate in Chicago and nation wide?

Join us to find out

Join our great group of panelists: Mark Frasetto, Deputy Director of Second Amendment History and Scholarship at Everytown Law, Brynn Jones, judicial advocacy associate at March for Our Lives, and Leigh Rome, a litigation and pro bono attorney at Giffords.

Our panelists will discuss the doctrinal journey of the second amendment in previous Supreme Court cases, then analyze what Bruen means for the future of gun control laws. Each panelists will speak about their organization’s potential solutions to national gun violence.
