*CANCELLED* Dinner Table Discussion: Affirmative Action

NYU School of Law

This event has been cancelled.

THIS EVENT IS NOT OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

Affirmative Action in the context of higher education admissions has been a prized mechanism for promoting diversity in institutions and correcting for the pervasive effects of racial biases across the American education system. While the U.S. Supreme Court has found affirmative action to be constitutional, the various forms of this practice remain subject to scrutiny, controversy, and legal challenges. Join ACS, Prof. Deborah Malamud, and fellow students for a discussion surrounding the landscape of modern affirmative action, the issues and legal challenges raised in the ongoing high profile Harvard case, and what the future of affirmative action programs can and should look like.

The ACS Dinner Table Discussion series aims to provide a space for progressive students to grapple with issues that divide the movement, both in its goals and practices. These discussions will be intimate and feature a faculty moderator with an interest and experience in the discussion's topic. Food is provided.
