ACS New York: “Migrating to Prison” with César Cuauhtémoc García Hernández

Roosevelt House Public Policy Institute at Hunter College, New York, NY

Join the ACS New York Lawyer Chapter and the Roosevelt House Public Policy Institute for a discussion between Cristian Farias and Professor César Cuauhtémoc García Hernández on the latter’s new book, Migrating to Prison: America’s Obsession with Locking Up Immigrants.

In Migrating to Prison, César Cuauhtémoc García Hernández, the U.S.-born child of Mexican immigrants who was raised in the Texas border city of McAllen and is a frequent visitor to immigration prisons, takes a hard look at the immigration prison system’s origins, how it currently operates, why the system has evolved this way, and why we as a nation must change this practice.

Featuring:

César Cuauhtémoc García Hernández, Associate Professor of Law, University of Denver Sturm College of Law

Cristian Farias, Writer-In-Residence, Knight First Amendment Institute, Columbia University
