ACS Bay Area: The Case Against Trump

University of California, Berkeley School of Law, Berkeley, CA

Join the University of California, Berkeley School of Law Student Chapter and Bay Area Lawyer Chapter of the American Constitution Society in welcoming San Francisco City Attorneys Sara J. Eisenberg and Erin Kuka to talk about San Francisco’s strategic efforts to take on the Trump Administration.

The talk will feature discussions on the role that state and local governments can play in both checking federal government action and in upholding civil rights and liberties when the federal government fails to do so. Ms. Eisenberg was part of the team that litigated the city attorney’s successful challenges to the administration’s (repeated) attempts to withhold federal funds from San Francisco and other “sanctuary” jurisdictions. Ms. Kuka represented San Francisco in coalition litigation challenging the addition of the citizenship question to the 2020 census.
