ACS and the Federalist Society Present - Originalism: A Debate

Vanderbilt Hall, 216

Join ACS and the Federalist Society for a debate on whether Originalism is a meaningful method of Constitutional interpretation, or merely a pretext for Constitutional decisions that constrain progress. As Justice Kagan remarked in her confirmation hearing, “Sometimes they laid down very specific rules. Sometimes they laid down broad principles. Either way, we apply what they tried to do… In that way, we are all originalists.” Professor David Pozen, Visiting Constitutional Law Professor at Columbia and Ilan Wurman, assistant professor at the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University will debate this question.

Lunch will be served!

WHEN: Wednesday, April 17, 12:45 - 2:00 PM

WHERE: VH 216
