Texas Law - Off the Rolls: The Right to Vote in Texas and Beyond
Join the ACS Texas Law Student Chapter for a panel just one week before the midterm elections discussing current issues related to voting rights. The goal of the event is to better understand the current landscape of voting rights following the Supreme Court’s rollback of the Voting Rights Act, ongoing litigation regarding the National Voter Registration Act, and the Trump Administration’s attempts to exert greater federal control over state election law.
The confirmed panelists include Professor Joshua Sellers, constitutional law professor at the University of Texas, Veronikah Warms, voting rights staff attorney at the Texas Civil Rights Project, and Mimi Marziani, founding partner of Marziani Stevens & Gonzalez, a Texas-based law firm specializing in election law and civil rights litigation. The panel will be moderated by two ACS board members. After taking pre-written questions from the moderators, the panelists will take questions from the audience.
The event will be cosponsored by the Thurgood Marshall Law Society.
