ACS ASU Presents: A Conversation with Honorable D. Andrew "Andy" Gaona
Join the ACS ASU Student Chapter and CLLSA for a candid conversation with the Honorable D. Andrew "Andy" Gaona, Judge on the Arizona Court of Appeals, Division One.
Appointed by Governor Katie Hobbs in March 2026, Judge Gaona is one of a small number of Latino judges to reach this level of the Arizona judiciary. A graduate of ASU's Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, Judge Gaona built his career as one of Arizona's leading election and public law litigators, representing clients in some of the state's highest-profile election law cases before being appointed to the bench. In this conversation, he'll share his path from law student to litigator to judge, reflect on what it means to be one of the few Latino judges to reach the Court of Appeals, and talk candidly about his experience practicing election law during one of the most consequential periods in Arizona's political history.
