UCLA Law - Stanford Law Professor Diego Zambrano on his book How Americans Enforce the Law
Join the ACS UCLA Student Chapter as we host Stanford Law Professor Diego Zambrano for a conversation moderated by UCLA Law Professor Dave Marcus. The event will focus on Professor Zambrano’s new book, How Americans Enforce the Law, and the role that private rights of action play in the American legal system.
The book examines the distinctive extent to which the U.S. relies on private individuals and their lawyers, rather than government agencies alone, to enforce laws governing areas like civil rights, employment, consumer protection, antitrust, and the environment. Professor Zambrano and Professor Marcus will discuss how this system of private enforcement developed, when it works well, and the legal and democratic questions it can raise.
Coffee and donuts will be provided.
