Conversation with Justice Allison Riggs

Vanderbilt Law School, Flynn Auditorium, Nashville, TN

Please join ACS on Thursday, November 13 at 12:10 in Flynn for a conversation with Justice Allison Riggs of the North Carolina Supreme Court. Justice Allison Riggs of the Supreme Court of North Carolina has dedicated her career to protecting the right to vote and advancing equal justice. She grew up in the mountains of West Virginia and put herself through college, graduate school, and law school at the University of Florida. Before joining the bench, she worked at the Southern Coalition for Social Justice, where she led landmark redistricting and voting rights cases—including before the U.S. Supreme Court. Appointed by Governor Roy Cooper to the state’s highest court in 2023, Justice Riggs won reelection in 2024 amid fierce partisan attempts to overturn the result and retroactively void tens of thousands of votes. She continues to champion fairness, transparency, and dignity in the justice system. We’re honored to host Justice Riggs to discuss her journey from civil rights to the bench, lessons from her recent election, and her work. Free food will be provided.
