Impact Today! Judicial Confirmations in the #MeToo Era

Impact Center for Public Interest Law, W401

Impact Today! is a lunchtime series hosted by the Impact Center for Public Interest Law. The series highlights how current events impact civil rights and civil liberties.

When Judge Brett Kavanaugh was accused of sexual assault, the #MeToo movement was ushered into the world of judicial confirmation hearings. Judge Shira Scheindlin (ret.), a leader on gender equity in the legal profession and an ACS National Board of Directors member, will join us to discuss the Kavanaugh hearings and their place in the #MeToo era as well as their similarity to the 1991 Clarence Thomas confirmation hearings.

Co-sponsored by the NYLS Legal Association for Women.

Lunch will be served. This event is open to all NYLS students, faculty and staff.
