Harmed and Protected? Religion Clauses and Religious Minorities

The Religion Clauses of the First Amendment comprise a central pillar of American

democracy. Yet their history is contested. Constitutional law experts and practitioners will share their insight into the role of the Religion Clauses in protecting and harming

religious minorities throughout American history. Panelists will include Richard Foltin (past director of national and legislative affairs, American Jewish Committee), Professor

Frederick Gedicks (BYU Law), and Melissa Rogers (past Executive Director of the

White House Office of Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships and Special

Assistant to President Obama). The moderator will be Professor Micah Schwartzman.
