Let’s Talk About January 6th: What happened? What’s next?

In light of the attack on the US Capitol on January 6th, the ACS UVA Law Student Chapter’s first event of the semester will be: "Let’s Talk About January 6th: What happened? What’s next?". The event will take place this Friday (Feb. 5) at 2:30 via Zoom.

No doubt a single event cannot give space to every voice, every piece of history, every lens needed to make sense of and respond to this violent act of white supremacy and anti-democracy, but we've heard from students that it is important we make some space to explore it together. Featuring members of the UVA Law and national ACS community, our panelists will lead a conversation to help students understand and process what happened and then discuss what we, as members of the legal profession and American citizens, can do next to build a fair democracy.

Featuring:

Valerie Nannery, Senior Director of Network Advancement, American Constitution Society

Micah Schwartzman, Hardy Cross Dillard Professor of Law and Director of the Karsh Center for Law and Democracy, UVA School of Law; Member, ACS Board of Academic Advisors
