ACS Launches 'The Oath Project' on Constitution Day, Inviting Americans to Reaffirm Commitment to Democracy

Washington, DC -- Today, on Constitution Day, the American Constitution Society is proud to announce The Oath Project, a nonpartisan civic initiative inviting people across the country to record and share a short video of themselves taking an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States.

The project aims to inspire millions of people to take the oath with friends, family members, neighbors, classrooms, faith communities, civic groups, and local organizations on Constitution Day and beyond.

“Today, September 17, is Constitution Day—a time to celebrate our nation’s founding document and reflect on the responsibilities we share in sustaining our democracy,” said ACS President Phil Brest. “At a moment when we must all commit to the preservation of our rights and freedoms, this project offers a simple but meaningful way to affirm our commitment to the Constitution and our democracy.”

A wide range of prominent Americans—from the arts to the legal community, from veterans to the business community— have already reaffirmed their commitment to America’s promise by taking the oath. The growing number of participants include:
