Breakfast with Rylee Sommers-Flanagan

Join ACS and PLA for a breakfast with Rylee Sommers-Flanagan, an SLS (and ACS!) alum who is the founder and Executive Director of Upper Seven Law, a nonprofit law firm based in Montana and dedicated to holding the powerful accountable.

Through her work at Upper Seven Law, Rylee has permanently enjoined four state laws that restricted the right to vote, effected redistricting of an unconstitutional map, and strengthened the rights and freedoms enshrined in the Montana Constitution. She is currently litigating cases related to abhorrent conditions of confinement, legalized sex discrimination, and excessive fees in violation of the Eighth Amendment, among other issues.

They’ll talk about their work on gun violence prevention, the legal battles shaping firearm regulation, and what it’s like to practice public interest law in this space.
