Obie Anthony's Story

Obie Anthony was incarcerated for 17 years in California for a murder and attempted robbery that he did not commit. He was 19 years old when he was convicted. Mr. Anthony's conviction was vacated in September 2011, based on issues ineffective assistance of counsel, official misconduct, and fabricated testimony. Since his release, he founded Exonerated Nation, an organization to assist exonerees with reentry, and was pivotal is the passage of a law in California, known as Obie's Law, which requires the state to provide reentry support to exonerees. Join us as we hear from Mr. Anthony about the wrongs done to him, his fight for his freedom, and his commitment to supporting other exonerees. Mr. Anthony will also be joined by Dave McLane, civil rights attorney who represented Mr. Anthony! Co-sponsored by NDLS Exoneration Project and ACS.
