Ann Arbor's Sustainable Energy Utility Ballot Proposal Lunch Talk

ACS and ELS co-sponsored a presentation on Ann Arbor's Sustainable Energy Utility Ballot Proposal. Dr. Missy Stults, Ann Arbor's Sustainability and Innovations Director, presented and Jerusalem Gardens was served. If the proposal passes, and the program is seen as a success, it may be emulated in cities across the nation. It is at the cutting edge of energy law and policy.

Iowa Legislative Preview

The University of Iowa Chapter of ACS will be hosting a legislative preview on October 16, 2024 to prepare students on the upcoming Iowa legislative session in 2025. We will be hosting Iowa State Senator Janice Weiner to speak about the term.

Everytown Law Constitutional Law Fellows Freya Jamison and Sana Mesiya (L '22) will join us to discuss the Supreme Court's decision, its current implications, and the future of 2nd Amendment litigation. Emory Law Supreme Court Preview

Join Emory's Chapters of the American Constitution Society and the Federalist Society for our Annual Supreme Court Preview! Dean Acevedo along with Professors Volokh, Hutchinson, and Cavedon will be presenting on some of the most interesting and impactful cases on the Supreme Court docket this session. We will be serving Publix sandwiches, snacks, and desserts for lunch!

Know Your Rights Training

Join ACS as we host Know Your Rights Training. This training is aimed to make students aware of the best practices when engaging with law enforcers. We will start with a quick knowledge quiz and have some fun with scenarios of what you should or should not do when being arrested or questioned by an officer. Light refreshments to be provided.

A conversation with Matthew Wright (US v. Rahimi)

Join us for a conversation with Assistant Federal Public Defender Matthew Wright! Last term, Wright argued his first Supreme Court case, representing the respondent in United States v. Rahimi, a major Second Amendment case. He'll discuss how recent SCOTUS gun cases have affected his work as a public defender, how gun laws affect his clients, and how he prepared for his first argument at the Court. Lunch will be provided (it's not pizza). This event is co-sponsored with the Gun Violence Prevention (GVP) Clinic and the Criminal Justice League (CJL).
