Please join the ACS Virginia Lawyer Chapter and the ACS University of Richmond School of Law Student Chapter in celebrating the new Fall Semester. All are welcome including both students (from any ACS chapter) and are encouraged to join and connect with the wider Virginia ACS community in a relaxed setting. ACS will cover up to two drinks for the students, first come first served!
El Derecho a la Vivienda en Puerto Rico
Join ACS Puerto Rico's Chapter as we host a panel discussion to explore the fundamental aspects of rights to housing in Puerto Rico. The panel will include:
- Ms. Ramona Cruz: a victim of expropriation, who will share her personal experience.
- Attorney Ariadna Godreau: who legally represented Ms. Cruz in her case.
- Mr. Sebastián Castrodad Reverón: the creator of a documentary that narrates Ms. Cruz's story.
- Professor Erika Fontánez: Moderator, Professor Fontánez has worked extensively with affected communities and has published several books and articles on the subject matter.
This event will include a screening of Mr. Castrodad's documentary (aprox. 30 minutes), followed by a discussion provided by Prof. Fontánez about the core principles of housing rights. Our guest panelists will engage in a conversation about the broader implications of these issues, and attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions. To conclude, refreshments and food will be provided
ACS Board Bonfire
This event will be a social bonfire night to welcome the 1L members to the board and have the 2Ls and 3Ls get to know the underclassmen better. The goal of the event is to encourage more connections among board members and social camaraderie.
