Ways to Stay Engaged While You Stay Home: October 21 Edition
Network Advancement Associate
During these unprecedented times, ACS continues to provide a virtual forum for our network to engage and work toward a Constitution that is truly “of the people, by the people, and for the people.” Here are some ways to help you stay engaged while in-person events are canceled. Do you have ideas we should include in future editions? Let us know by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org!
Help with SCOTUS Vacancy Phone Banking
The National Equality Action Team (NEAT) is hosting virtual phone banks to encourage individuals to let their senators know the SCOTUS vacancy should not be filled until after the inauguration. Volunteers can make remote calls anywhere, any day, and at almost any time that’s convenient. NEAT provides an easy web calling tool, a script, quick OnDemand video training, and live support for volunteers. If you would like to get involved, sign up here and indicate that ACS referred you.
Help with Election Protection Remotely and in-Person
Every election year, thousands of non-partisan Election Protection volunteers mobilize at polling places nationwide and serve as voters’ first line of defense against rampant misinformation and other election concerns. But this year, with COVID-19, Election Protection efforts are moving to kitchen tables and living rooms as well and helping voters by monitoring social media for misinformation and disinformation. Become a nonpartisan social media monitor this election season! With support from Common Cause staff, you’ll assist voters with questions they post online, as well as correct misinformation and disinformation on major social media platforms. If you would like to volunteer, sign up here and indicate that you’d like to become a social media monitor. You can also sign up for other election protection opportunities through the same link.
Sign up to be a Poll Worker (It’s not too late!)
ACS is partnering with Power the Polls to recruit volunteers to address the critical shortage of poll workers in jurisdictions around the country. Volunteers are especially needed in MI, NC, OH, PA, TX, and WI. Sign up here! When you sign up, you’ll get connected to your local election office so you can learn more about serving as a poll worker.
