Private: Article III Groupie . . . Unmasked

The blogosphere is atwitter today over the revelation of the identity of the blogger behind Underneath Their Robes, a site devoted to gossip about federal judges and their clerks.
The New Yorker reports that Article III Groupie, the author of the blog, is 30-year-old Assistant U.S. Attorney David Lat, who writes for the website in his spare time. Lat's gender comes as a bit of surprise because of the convincingly feminine tone of the A3G authorial persona, but the only somewhat tongue-in-cheek obsession with judicial celebrity that runs through the blog is apparently entirely genuine. Lat, a graduate of Harvard College and Yale Law School, told the New Yorker that he has "always had a certain status anxiety about not having clerked on the Supreme Court. . . . My interest in celebrity has kind of metastasized from the judges to the clerks."
Lat also said he hoped "that the judges I appear in front of don't read [the blog]."
