WashU Law - Local Democracy: A Conversation with Megan Green and Professor Jonathan Smith
WashU Law ACS is excited to host a conversation with Megan Green, President of the Saint Louis Board of Aldermen, and Professor Jonathan Smith, who teaches Local Government Law.
Together, they will explore the role of local democracy in shaping daily life, including President Green’s path into public service, the structure and responsibilities of the Board of Aldermen, and how law and policymaking intersect at the municipal level.
Students will gain perspective on how local government impacts critical issues like housing, public safety, and community development, and why civic participation—especially voting—matters most in local elections. Lunch will be provided.
