ACS Nebraska and the University of Nebraska College of Law, in partnership with the Women’s Initiative Kick Off, welcomes well-known civil liberties advocate and former head of the ACLU, Professor Nadine Strossen. Nadine Strossen is the John Marshall Harlan II Professor of Law at New York Law School. She has written, taught, and advocated significantly in the areas of constitutional law and civil liberties. In 1991, she became the first woman to head the nation’s largest and oldest civil liberties organization, serving as president of the American Civil Liberties Union, a position she held until 2008. In her lecture entitled “Hate: Resist it. Don’t Censor It.” Strossen will discuss the difference between free speech and hate speech.
