The Fight for Latinx Voting Rights
Come see Tanya Pellegrini speak about latinx voting rights and the work that MALDEF does to protect them. Food will be provided.
Ms. Pellegrini is a Staff Attorney at the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (“MALDEF”) where she litigates civil rights cases in several practice areas, including voting rights, immigrant rights, education, and employment. Ms. Pellegrini has experience bringing legal challenges under the Federal Voting Rights Act of 1965 and the California Voting Rights Act. While at MALDEF, Ms. Pellegrini represented Latino voters in the case of Oscar Luna, et al. v. County of Kern, et al., which successfully challenged the use of racially gerrymandered district boundaries for the election of the Board of Supervisors in Kern County, California. Ms. Pellegrini also worked on MALDEF’s legal challenge to the addition of a citizenship question to the 2020 decennial Census.
