The Constitution in Jeopardy: A Talk with Russ Feingold

Classroom 210, New York, NY

Join the ACS New York Lawyer Chapter and the NYU Student Chapter for a conversation with ACS President and former Senator Russ Feingold to discuss the state of American democracy and his book, The Constitution in Jeopardy: An Unprecedented Effort to Rewrite Our Fundamental Law and What We Can Do About It.

Over the past two decades, a fringe plan to call the nation’s first ever convention under the Constitution's amendment mechanism has inched through statehouses. In his book, Feingold examines this quiet effort to radically change our constitution. If realized, the plan would allow convention delegates nearly unlimited authority to draft alterations to anything from voting and free speech rights to regulatory and foreign policy powers. He distills extensive legal and historical research and examines the grave risks inherent in this effort, while considering the role of constitutional amendment in modern life and offering a way forward.

Join us for a stimulating talk about the law’s response to the current attacks on fundamental rights, to connect with a leader pushing for a more progressive judiciary, and for some good food! RSVP required. Please RSVP here.
