Right to Rest Film Screening & Panel

Sturm College of Law - Room 125, Denver, CO

The Denver Law ACS Student Chapter will host directors Sarah Megyesy & Guillermo Roqués for a film screening of “The Right to Rest” - a feature-length documentary that explores tiny homes as an innovative solution for Denver’s rising homeless population and affordable housing crisis. The documentary highlights policies that are enacted, which criminalize homelessness and push those experiencing homelessness out of historically marginalized neighborhoods. With the enactment of the Urban Camping Ban in 2012, this law made it illegal for individuals to sleep or shelter oneself in any unauthorized camping area like sidewalks, alleys and public parks. As authorities tell those who are experiencing homelessness to move along, people respond with“movealong to where?”
