*POSTPONED* ACS Madison: Are Mandatory State Bar Dues Constitutional after Janus v. AFSCME?

Virtual Event

On Wednesday, June 3rd, the U.S. Supreme Court denied certiorari in Jarchow v. State Bar of Wisconsin, a case concerning whether mandatory state bar dues violate First Amendment protections on speech after the Court’s decision concerning mandatory union dues in Janus v. American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees.

Although the Supreme Court has declined cert. in Jarchow, the issue continues to be litigated, both in another Wisconsin case and in a number of cases in other states. The ACS Madison Lawyer Chapter, ACS Marquette University Law School Student Chapter, and the ACS Milwaukee Lawyer Chapter invite you to a discussion between attorneys from both sides of the Jarchow case on the topic of mandatory bar dues.

Featuring:

Rick Esenberg, President and General Counsel, Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty; Counsel for Adam Jarchow in Jarchow v. State Bar of Wisconsin

Roberta Howell, Partner, Foley & Lardner LLP; Counsel for State Bar of Wisconsin in Jarchow v. State Bar of Wisconsin

1.0 hour of CLE credit is pending for this event. This debate is free and open to the public.
